Lampada Bulbo Led final Inspection in china, defect

Sourcing light bulbs from China and Asia? Quality inspection is essential to ensure product safety, compliance, and supply chain reliability.

A comprehensive and professional light bulb quality inspection can help buyers identify quality issues before shipment, reduce risks, and ensure that lighting products meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Light Bulb Safety Standards and Regulation

Light bulbs and lighting products must comply with applicable safety, electrical, energy-efficiency, and electromagnetic compatibility requirements in their target markets. The following standards and regulations are commonly relevant to LED bulbs, CFLs, incandescent lamps, and other general lighting products.

  • IEC 60598-1 – Luminaires – Part 1: General requirements and tests: Provides general safety requirements and test methods for luminaires, including classification, marking, construction, protection against electric shock, mechanical strength, and electrical safety.
  • IEC 60432 – Incandescent lamps – Safety specifications: Specifies safety requirements for incandescent lamps, including construction, lamp bases, mechanical safety, and electrical safety.
  • IEC 62471 – Photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems: Evaluates the potential photobiological risks of optical radiation from lamps and lamp systems to the eyes and skin.
  • IEC 62560 – Self-ballasted LED-lamps for general lighting services by voltage > 50 V – Safety specifications: Specifies safety requirements for self-ballasted LED lamps with a supply voltage above 50 V, including construction, electrical safety, protection against electric shock, insulation, thermal safety, and marking.
  • RoHS: Restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, including substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBBs, and PBDEs.
  • UL 1993 – Self-Ballasted Lamps and Lamp Adapters: Covers safety requirements for self-ballasted lamps and lamp adapters, including construction, electrical safety, mechanical requirements, temperature, and abnormal operating conditions.
  • FCC Part 15: Establishes requirements for radio-frequency emissions from electronic equipment. It may apply to lighting products containing electronic drivers or other electronic components.

Light Bulb Inspection Checklists

A comprehensive light bulb final inspection checklist is essential to ensure that all aspects of the product are inspected thoroughly. Here are some key areas to include in GIS quality assurance PSI checklist:

1. Quantity Check

GIS inspectors count products and shipping cartons to verify that the correct quantity of an order has been finished which including PO quantity, shipment quantity, packed quantity, unpacked quantity, and unfinished quantity.

2. Workmanship Inspection

The inspector will select a sample size according to the AQL standard, and conduct a visual check for any damages and flaws in workmanship and classify them as major, minor, or critical defects.

3. Product description, style and color check

GIS Inspection will verify that the products conform to the specifications against PO, photos, and sample.

4. On-site Test

The selected sample will undergo rigorous testing to ensure that it functions properly and meets safety standards. The essential tests performed by our inspectors during an onsite pre-shipment inspection of light bulb:

  • Transportation drop test: No critical & Major issue found on package & product after (10 times) drop test according to the standard of ISTA 1A.
  • Product Size /power cord length / Weight Measurement: According to product spec or approved sample. Apply +/-3% if no detail tolerance issued or requirement from client
  • Bar code scan check: The bar code must be scannable and with the correct number.
  • Assembly/ installation check: Should be assembled/ installed smoothly according to the instruction manual or guideline, and no issue found.
  • Full function check: All captioned function is well conducted as intended.
  • Coating adhesive Tape Test: Use 3M 600 (or same performance tape) tape for an adhesion test on all painting, foil stamping, UV coating, printing. no more than 10% area peel off required.
  • High voltage test (not for safety extra-low voltage (SELV) products):  Conduct the test for 1 second (5mA) at the voltage required between the tested parts
    The testing voltage required:
    For the USA/Canada markets:
    1200Vac
    For European markets:
    1500Vac;
    no insulation breakdown.
  • Polarity check: the live wire should be connected to center contact spring of lamp holder, and the neutral wire should be connected to shell of lamp holder.
  • Drop test for remote controller: Freely drop the unit through a height of 1000mm onto a smooth concrete floor with 3mmT vinyle tile 3 times by different position, check the product unit after each drop. Any malfunction /construction broken or other major defect be found.
  • Power on check: The good condition samples should be operating at full load (preferable) at least 4 hours at rated voltage or time reference the user instruction if less than 4 hours. After testing the samples should pass the hi voltage check, function check, earth continuity check etc., and no coating melt, smoke, burned mark, marking illegible etc. defect found.
  • Earth continually test: For European markets:
luminary product: at least 10A for 1 second applied for the test and the resistance should be no more than 0.5 ohm.
other household products: 25A for 1 second applied for the test and the resistance should be no more than 0.1 ohm.
For USA/CANADA markets: 25A for 1 second applied for the test and the resistance should be no more than 0.1 ohm.
  • Power consumption check or input power/ current check: The power consumption /input power / current must comply with product spec and safety standard.
  • Internal workmanship and critical component check: check internal construction and components. the wire ways should be free from sharp edge or heating or moving to cause insulation damaged, intenal connection should be security fixing and the component should be complied with requirement according with CDF or (critical component list) CCL.
  • Rubbing test for rating label and adhesive Test for printing, marking and logo: Rub the rating label for 15 seconds with water, then for 15 seconds with petroleum spirits.
  • Correlated color temperature (CCT) measurement: The result shall comply with the claimed product spec.
  • Luminous flux measurement: The result shall comply with the claimed product spec.
  • Color rendering index (CRI)measurement: record the data on report.
  • Torque test: The result shall comply with the claimed product spec.

5. Packaging Check

GIS inspectors will check the packing method and packing information to ensure that everything is accurate and safe for transportation. Inner and outer packaging are inspected to ensure that they meet client specifications, with results provided in the report.
